Printing Efficiently & Greener

The University of East London, London South Bank University and charity Global Action Plan are working on a Green ICT project funded by JISC. The aim of the project is to investigate how barriers to Green ICT can be overcome within a HEI, especially in terms of cross-departmental working and implementing staff behavioural change programmes. We're looking at the specific issue of improving the efficiency of printing to deliver a long-term sustainable solution.

Which system do you use for managing your print and copy usage?

In October 2010, most UK Universities were asked if they had a system for effectively managing their print and copying. 72 universities replied. The following systems where used:

PCounter 19 institutions.

GPAS 11 institutions.

Pharos Uniprint 17 institutions.

Papercut 10 institutions.

SAFECOM/HP 8 institutions.

Equitrac 5 institutions.

Ringdale 1 institution.

In House 1 institution.

Hi, Nice job. the coolest thing to have would be an utility grabbing online all the available hotfixes for a specific xenapp release, displaying them in sheet with an option to select/unselect the ones to download and the ones not to download. I know I'm lazy but sometimes it takes really a long time to download one by one these updates. I
